About Us
This shop is family owned and was founded to provide pet products for the unconventional pet owners (such as ourselves) that fulfill certain needs and ambitions that traditional pet product companies either ignore or have never thought of (we don’t know which).
At the moment we are a small pet supply shop, but we also look forward to when we can put our handmade items up on the shop as well as our homegrown collection of fish! We strive to sell/make products that increase quality of life for both pet and owner in as many aspects as possible and last long so you and your pet can enjoy them for years to come!
We have big ambitions for our shop and will continue to improve and grow as we go forwards, so stick with us for the journey!
Our little mascots are in honor of our (now deceased) mouse, Rogue, and corn snake, Candycorn,(21 and still going strong) and their unusual friendship.
Meet the Team
Hitsuji Shinrin, Owner
Hitsuji has worked and cared for animals of all shapes and sizes for fifteen years and is the unofficial vet of the family.
Hitsuji is an animal lover with a strong interest in animal biology and psychology. Animal wellness is a top propriety for them and being accurate is a must, as a result “researches extensively” could be considered a personality trait.
The dream they’ve been working towards is to upgrade their pet’s enclosures into partly self-sustaining mini ecosystems that mimic their natural habitat. Their lifelong dream is to live on a farm in animal paradise.
The Orochi Clan, Product Testers
The Orochi Clan are the surviving family of Rogue (the shop’s namesake), while they are not blood-related they are the descendants of Rogue’s distant cousins and her close friend, Archer (bless her soul).
With the Clan being 15+ the diversity of mousy options on all manner of things ensure that products are thoroughly vetted and really put to the test.
To sum up the general attitude of the Clan, They’re very friendly and good natured, but the boys bicker over silly things and the girls carry out assassinations that Hitsuji just can’t pin on them.
Rags, Product Tester & Head of Security
Rags had a rough start in life being born into a hoarding situation, but that didn’t stop him striking out on his own at the age of three with only his guardian angel and fate to guide him. Sure enough, one hitchhiking adventure later and he arrived at the local shelter just as Hitsuji’s Mother was leaving and approximately fifteen minutes he was adopted into the family.
He’s worked ten years in security keeping away suspicious characters (joggers, walkers, the giant doberman…) and keeping the cats, ferrets, and other employees in check.
He’s rather new to product testing and has little interest in traditional toys (blankets are his favorite toy). It’s likely his rating for beds and blankets will be high and his rating for toys will be biasedly low, so toy testing will be outsourced to the neighbor’s dog.
Skitty the Second, Product Tester & Hitsuji's Master
A long standing member of Hitsuji’s non-human family, she has seniority over the other animal employees and despite Hitsuji raising her they’re relationship has become one of benevolent master and servant although she’s been a lot more affectionate these past few years.
As the highly respected and rightfully feared Lady of the house Miss Skitty only test products that concern her such as: Grooming, Litter & Litter Boxes (Her high standards are on Hitsuji still can’t meet), Traveling Gear, Accessories, and Toys that happen to pique her interest.
Her least favorite employee is Onxy who has bothered her with his presence since he was a kitten and now argues with him on an almost daily basis. Even so, she was ready to blind Rags for nearly nipping the kid, but don’t worry Rags never knew he was in danger and he was only on her hit list for a single day…
Don’t anger the master.
Onyx, Product Tester, Professional Noodge & Model
Adopted as a kitten from the same shelter the family met Rags, Onyx was the one who picked the family; reaching out with his little paw and catching Hitsuji by the sleeve and he stole their heart instantly. Ever since he’s lovely annoys the household and hides behind Hitsuji like an impish kid when he stirs up too much trouble.
Onyx has high standards for cleanliness so while Litter & Litter Boxes are in his wheelhouse to judge, he’d slap anyone who’d try to test a brush on him taking it as an insult to how he maintains his coat (He keeps it smooth and shiny at all times).
He’s also in charge of testing toys, travel gear, accessories, and one day treats as well as one of our models for product demonstrations.
